Bifocal Vision Tue, Jan 24th

eyeglassesFor most people, the day arrives when the dreaded word comes from their eye doctor--"bifocals." Bifocals allow you to see upclose when you needed and far away when you needed. Usually, those take two different lenses.

Healthy churches require bifocal vision. On one level they concern themselves with things immediately at hand. Buildings must be maintained. Bible classes need teachers. Someone has to serve in worship this Sunday.

However, great churches put on a second vision prescription. They have to look into the distance to see years away.

At Waterview, an annual event called New Life Celebration (this year held on February 12) keeps our "distance vision" sharp. On that day we introduce families who had new children enter their home during the year. A brief video is shown and a dinner is held after our morning services.

We have a single purpose for events like New Life Celebration--to remind us that the smallest baby is the life of the church decades hence. When churches neglect the new growth it fades into no growth. Babies won't be born in their fellowship but neither will new souls be won. The desire to execute the future makes the difference between a dying church and a living church.

Join us on February 12 as we emphasize helping our families prepare the elders and preachers we will have in 2050.
